Learning Through YouTubers & Influencers

Okay, so let’s be real, learning a new language in class can be kinda boring sometimes. Conjugating verbs and memorizing vocab lists is NOT exactly fun. But guess what is fun? Watching YouTube and scrolling through TikTok. Here’s the cool part: you can learn a ton of French or Spanish just by following some popular creators who speak those languages. It’s like learning without even trying (and you’ll sound way cooler when you speak, too, trust me). Here are a few I’ve been watching that make learning way more chill:

French-Speaking Influencers

1. Natoo (YouTube / Insta)
She’s super funny and makes random comedy videos and vlogs about her life. It’s not like a French lesson or anything, but the way she talks is how real people speak. You’ll pick up casual words and phrases fast. Plus, her dog is adorable.

2. Cyprien (YouTube)
Cyprien’s been on YouTube forever. He makes hilarious sketches and talks about relatable stuff (like being awkward, lol). I watch with French subtitles on and try to catch the jokes. It’s helped me understand slang and real convos.

3. Léna Situations (YouTube / Instagram)
She’s all about fashion, lifestyle, and positivity. If you’re into that aesthetic influencer vibe, she’s your girl. Also, her French is super clear, which makes it easier to follow along.

Spanish-Speaking Influencers

1. Luisito Comunica (YouTube)
This dude travels everywhere and vlogs everything. His videos are fun, and you get to hear Spanish spoken in different countries. I watch his food vlogs and try to guess what people are saying before I read the subtitles.

2. Pautips (YouTube / Insta)
She’s a Colombian beauty/lifestyle YouTuber and talks about everything from makeup to mental health. Her Spanish is pretty easy to follow, and you’ll learn words that get used, not the ones in textbooks.

3. ElRubiusOMG (YouTube / Twitch)
If you’re into gaming, ElRubius is HUGE. He’s loud, funny, and chaotic (in a good way). You might not catch every word at first, but if you watch a few of his videos, you’ll start picking up on slang and gamer talk.

Why It Works

Watching influencers in French or Spanish helps you:

  • Hear how people speak (aka, not like your textbook)
  • Learn slang, expressions, and how to talk more naturally
  • Stay updated on trends, music, and pop culture in other countries
  • Get used to how the language sounds without stressing about being perfect

Honestly, it doesn’t even feel like studying. Just follow them on YouTube, Insta, or TikTok, turn on subtitles, and vibe. You’ll be surprised how much you start understanding. So yeah, next time your teacher assigns a vocab list, maybe just… watch a Léna Situations vlog instead (just kidding… kind of).
